Job Description

HDP Network Solutions is seeking an experienced Telecommunications Technician with proven hands-on experience in structured cabling, wireless networking, CCTV, telephony, and commercial low-voltage installations.  

This field-based role is ideal for a technician who takes pride in quality workmanship, enjoys solving technical challenges, and is comfortable working independently or as part of a team. The successful candidate will install, terminate, test, and commission a wide variety of telecommunications and network infrastructure projects throughout Ontario.  

We're looking for someone who takes pride in delivering clean, professional installations and enjoys working on a variety of commercial telecommunications projects. The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-focused, and capable of producing high-quality work with minimal supervision while contributing positively to the team. 

About the Job

Location: GTA (Travel as Required) 

Reports To: Regional Manager 

Salary Range/based on experience: $20.00 to $30.00

Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, and certify CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, fiber optic and coaxial cabling. 
  • Install and terminate Ethernet and telephony jacks and patch panels. 
  • Install and service business telephone systems. 
  • Install, configure and test Wireless Access Points (WAPs). 
  • Install and commission IP-based CCTV systems. 
  • Install cellular signal booster systems. 
  • Complete MDU suite wiring and riser installations. 
  • Install EMT, rigid conduit, cable tray and cable support systems. 
  • Rack and dress network equipment. 
  • Perform fiber optic termination and testing. 
  • Troubleshoot structured cabling, network connectivity and hardware issues. 
  • Read and interpret floor plans, riser diagrams and construction drawings. 
  • Complete testing and as-built documentation. 
  • Maintain clean, professional installations. 
  • Follow all health and safety policies. 
  • Communicate professionally with customers, project managers and team members. 

Qualifications

Required 

  • Minimum 3 years of telecommunications or structured cabling experience. 
  • Commercial low-voltage installation experience. 
  • Understanding of Ethernet/IP networking, PoE, VLANs and device connectivity. 
  • Experience with structured cabling, WAPs, CCTV, telephony, fiber optics and cellular boosters. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot installation and network issues. 
  • Ability to read blueprints and construction drawings. 
  • Comfortable working independently. 
  • Comfortable working at heights. 
  • Valid Ontario Driver's License with clean abstract. 

 

Preferred  

  • Working at Heights Certification 
  • Elevated Work Platform Certification 
  • First Aid & CPR 
  • BICSI Certification 
  • Fiber termination and OTDR testing experience 
  • Experience using Fluke DSX cable certification equipment 

 

Physical Requirements  

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg). 
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in physically demanding environments for extended periods. 
  • Comfortable working outdoors year-round in Ontario weather conditions. 
  • Ability to travel to project sites throughout Ontario as required.
